Dear Maysa:

I love your music. I was a recent covert to your growing fan club after my brother had one of your CDs "All My Life" that I promptly stole from him after listening to it. Since then I've brought "Smooth Sailing" and I'm looking forward to purchasing "Out of the Blue" soon.
I also love the way you represent Baltimore. I am a native daughter myself, and I met you at a fundraiser for Arena Players youth theatre, where we were raising money to fund the young actors travel to the Netherlands and participate in a cultural fair there. (I was the sista that spoke Dutch)
Through your music and your demeanor you demonstrate the class and inherit grace given to black women that we are blessed to have, and by your travel and growing success you represent hope for the black youth on how they can succeed and yet remain true to themselves.
In reading your diary I hear the struggles you are having with weight (a struggle that I share) and I want to know that it is the person inside that creates the beauty outside; and that you are a truly beautiful inside and out. Keep that light shining and keep spreading it throughout the world.
Maybe your talent will have to overwhelm the international circles before the US realizes what a treasure they have; which has been the plight for many black artists.

Because I love to travel too. (I teach internationally intermittently and I have lived in Europe and the Caribbean); I see you as Wendy Williams' always says as a "friend in my head"; and I just wanted to send you a note of encouragement and ever greater success.

All the best,
Sheresa
